NCMM[HI] - mixed CW waggons

20 Mar 2023 26
These are probably at Chatterley Whitfield, as the colliery was operating as an open-air museum, with underground trips to the 700ft level. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chatterley_Whitfield#1977_to_1986 Closure of the neighbouring Wolstanton Pit, which provided pumping and extra ventilation, meant that CW had to close the underground trips ... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chatterley_Whitfield#Why_did_the_underground_tours_have_to_stop ? The site is now on the "at risk" register ... Not my Image : fair use & public information

NRMv - coal waggons

This was on the wall in the "New Shed" at Locomotion - that's a lot of empty coal waggons that need to go back to be re-filled. They appear to be livered to a mixture of merchants and mine owners. I don't know where this is, but there must be several hundred waggons in these sidings. I recall seeing an image about the Chatterly - Whitfield colliery waggons, parked up like this after discharging into bunkers on ships berthed in Liverpool ...

That waggon is definitely falling apart, it gets worse every time it's moved. Hope it lasts long enough to land on the waiting rails, now the Brimec's been moved out of the way.

All lined up - on the far left is 66045, 1986 is in the middle with 1822 on the right. Yes, the one on the far right is particularly decrepit !
