I believe that, traditionally, these "beasts" were removeable features. This is a rather splendid example. -/-/- This diorama depicts the beaching of a typical Viking longship by her crew. Thought for the day outside the House of Manannan, Peel. [Part of this museum was the Peel railway station]. Picnic tables give a good view of the harbour / marina and Peel Castle in the distance. . Outside the museum and under the veranda roof [now, I ask myself, was it originally the platform canopy ? the decorative top of the cast iron pillar makes that possible] we found a series of picnic benches. This was the least mucky one - the staff were clearing the rest, it had been busy and they were short-staffed [as a couple of people were not at work - holidays, I think].

IoM[2] - Peel Station

A group listening to tales of the railway that used to run to Peel. We are standing -approximately - on the railway station platform, there are some suggestions of a campaign for a re-opening of the route. A few minutes later, we waved at {sounds of] the departing train - re-enacting the departure of the last train to Douglas. A recording of the correct sound effects was provided ... [This is part of the shop, in the House of Manannan, the museum in Peel. Most of this building in on a site that was formerly the Peel Railway station.

The House of Manannan was built in 1997 around the repurposed Peel Railway Station and the part of the site that had been used in 1979 to house "Odin's Raven". The original station dates from the Peel to Douglas line opening in 1873, it was closed in September 1968.
