What is it with gerbils ? they seem to like sitting in the food bowls, even when not eating. This litter of pups have a splendid nest made from hay and wood shavings downstairs, but the cold glass bowl seemed to be more interesting than cuddling up with mam and pop.

During some cleaning out of the bio-domes we had to put these two litters together for a while. After an initial period of high speed "zoomies" - they promptly heaped up like this !

This was a nice neat pile of gerbil pups, until the camera came out. The food bowl was upside down a few minutes earlier, just after being filled.
