wst - storm damaged bridge

02 Oct 2020 109
After having looked at the records for the flow rates on the River South Tyne at the Featherstone gauge - it would seem there was a peak flow event ... The highest level ever recorded at the River South Tyne at Featherstone is 2.72m, reached on Saturday 18th May 2013 at 1:00pm. I think the entrained debris in such a flood would be the likely cause of the demise of this bridge, the flooding was probably due to heavy rain and possibly melting of late season snow off the moors Not my image : fair use & educational purposes.
