Several buildings have been amalgamated to become the present day Hawes Inn. I think the original building would have been the two paired gables [painted pale green/grey]. What I have yet to discover is why it is named the "Hawes Inn". . We ate a splendid Roast Sunday Lunch, with many trimmings, and I would heartily recommend the food.

It was too wet to even think about sitting outside, although some hardy souls were using the chairs. Taken before our post-prandial stroll ... and daylight is starting to fade because of the thick cloud. However, we did hear rail traffic a couple of times.
