Traditionally, horses were used to help launch early lifeboats. Often, these came from local farms or haulage businesses. Thwaites Brewery have brought along a couple of the heavy horses that usually haul the show dray. The grooms have begun tacking up these two beauties ready for the part in front of the camera.
