whn - Wellington Terrace [HBM][HWW][HFF]

Part of Bella's "High Tide" walking route - up to the viewpoint and/or the Candlestick ... Just along the path is the monument to the 147 Men & Boys killed in the 1910 Wellington Pit Disaster. This was an explosion, leading to fires and collapses underground. Sadly, many of the victims were never recovered and the affected areas were simply walled off. (the temporary fencing is related to an unsightly building project, as is the lack of greens maintenance) e2a & e2a2 &e2a3 The two HBM seats have a good view out over the outer harbour The HWW is a significant retaining structure, including some long reinforcing bolts The HFF - several fences, both along Wellington Terrace, and one up by The Candlestick

Track washout used to point out how much of a disaster brexit will be ... e2a [2023] sadly, the reality is that brexit was a massive mistake, it is just that many people can't see that POV.

Lest we forget ... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aberfan_disaster This left me with thoughts that popped up in my nightmares for years, although I never lived anywhere with similar risks. I was only slightly older than the children at Pantglas Primary School at the time this happened. The events left a deep impression on me, and the callousness of the NCB's upper echelons was appalling. . . Not my Image : Fair Use & public information
