The imposition of the "sugar tax" on manufactured drinks [bottled, canned etc] is part of an attempt to promote healthy eating to deal with the UK's obesity problem - esp in children. Somewhat similar to the "Five a Day" campaign, although the "sugar tax" is from the stick rather than the carrot side ! . not my image : fair use & public education

UK vs USA portion sizes / calorie counts. . The UK has smaller portions and uses less high calorie ingredients - esp fructose / corn syrup. As a result there is less of a problem with obesity & other health issues in the UK. . Not my Image : fair use & public education
