dps[23] - far right is 'Sir John Williams'

08 Jul 2023 1 1 94
Item of some interest on the far right of this image. {1-23} Richard Hornsby & sons No.6759 'Sir John Williams' built in 1888 as an 8nhp "direct ploughing engine" and exported. returned from Tasmania in 1992, restored in Somerset before relocating to Easingwold. I don't recall seeing a Richard Hornsby full-size road steam vehicle previously. although it is in the 2022 rally handbook. note my visit last year was cut short by heavy rain ... [to the left are the two Sentinel S4 steam waggons, the 10t A&P 'Kathleen' and in the background is the Brayshaw showman's living van].

This pair of Allchin traction engines are very smart. The closer one is "Lady Ann" regno BF 9723 [no other info] The further one {1-18} is "Lady Olivia" reg no BF 8047 [wks no 1342, built in 1907 & exported to Australia, returned in near derelict condition in 2012, returned to steam in 2016] {note - the rally handbook has 1-19 as Allchin "Our Mary" wksno 1377 no build date but with similar export & repatriation history, being returned to steam in 2022} The green engine on the far side is Burrell 'The Maori'

{1-32} Burrell "The Maori" no.2696 Built 1902, exported to New Zealand. returned to the UK for restoration in ???? details tbc . To the left is the Fowler "Dalton Boy" and to the right is ??? partregno BF 840 ? [if the missing digit is a 7, then I think that is the Allchin known as "Lady Olivia"]

dps[23] - Fowler No.9544

08 Jul 2023 4 1 131
{1-21} Fowler 9544 "Dalton Boy" weighs 13 tons, was built in 1902 for use in Australia [hence the reference to Sydney on the smokebox door] regno DS 6584. with the present owner since 1980. . I'm impressed with the lining scheme.

STTES[23] - steam line up

10 Jun 2023 1 127
Didn't mean to include the dumpster in the line-up. There were 12 full-size engines listed in the rally handbook, at least 10 are visible.

bcv[22] - arena almost full [1 of 4]

18 Sep 2022 6 7 141
Almost all the full size steamers are now in the arena, ranging from a Robey "Tandem" roller [the red one on the extreme right] to various Fowlers and Showman's, plus a Sentinel S4 steam waggon. The last ones to enter were the matched pair of Fowler ploughing engines, currently just leaving their base on steam line.
