MFS - stbees cruise jenni

The yellow hull just astern of us is the yacht "Jennifer" - who arrived at the St Bees anchorage slightly after we did. Our "rubber duck" has been used for a trip to shore.

MFS - stbees cruise; home soon

Looking across to Haig Pit museum site on the return leg of the WSBA cruise to St Bees. The sea was getting rather choppy by now, and from an uncomfortable direction for us.

MFS - stbees for icecream

Two of the "crew" have gone ashore for ice creams from the beach café. Not as easy as it sounds ...

MFS - stbees cruise at anchor

27 Jul 2016 309
We have just dropped anchor, and some length of chain, in about 15 feet of water, off St Bees. Three other boats from the WSBA are already at anchor, and some "ship / shore" visiting is in progress. Unfortunately, it is feeling rather choppy - the wind and swell direction are not in agreement.

MFS - stbees cruise 4

Circling back towards St Bees to meet up with the other members of the WSBA on the cruise / outing.

MFS - stbees cruise 3

St Bees Bay opening as we round the southern part of St Bees Head, taking part in a cruise / outing organised by WSBA. The lifeboat station is just the extreme left of the beach, and the café with the hotel behind - the conspicuous white buildings - are in the centre of the view. We are further offshore than the yachts as we are motoring at a somewhat higher speed than they are sailing, currently we are steering a wide loop before turning into the anchorage.

MFS - stbees cruise 2

Four members of the WSBA are sailing to St Bees, we are motoring to the anchorage and therefore taking a much wider swing around St Bees Head.
