These timber strips contained many fixings, in the lower one these are still in place and in the upper strip they have been drilled out.

Bluebird has four timber strips, two run along the top edge, the other two at the bottom. These are the means of jointing the side and bottom of the hull.
Bluebird is in a rolling jig, with her starboard side uppermost and the bottom of the boat facing the camera.
MF - start anti-fouling

Starting to apply the first coat of anti-fouling paint below the waterline, over the two-part epoxy primer. The gap - on the actual waterline - between the blue gloss and anti-fouling will be covered by the bo'top (which will be pale blue).

The upper hull has now been caulked, sealed, primed and finally the undercoat has been applied.

The second coat of blue hill paint has been followed by the lighter blue of the boot top line, The is basically the waterline level and is usually written as "Boot Top" and often spoken as bowtop.
Below the waterline still has a little work to finish and the antifouling to apply, which will be done just before launch day.

It got a bit windy whilst we were removing some of the old caulking cotton, and when we came back here to carry on working, this is what we found......
