This is "U2" , more properly known as "Greenbat" - a Greenwood & Batley battery locomotive, Currently parked in the sidings at Ravenglass, in Cumbria has the once 16" gauge No. 2872, built in 1957 for Thomas Marshall & Co. of Storrs Bridge Fireclay Mine in Yorkshire. Formerly used as a carriage shunter; it was also hired to Gateshead Garden Festival, as motive power during the construction phase. Sadly, it seems to be out of favour now, and sits awaiting refurbishment and a new battery.

Maker's plates on Typhoon. . Without the aid of another bystander and their shadow ... the bright sun was over-exposing the image and confusing the camera.

RER - Typhoon 1

Typhoon and her tender are turned separately, as their combined length exceeds that of the turntable. This is a bit of a task ... and takes time, but provided the photo-opportunity. This was Typhoon's last day in service at Ravenglass in 2016. Please excuse the headboard, L'aal Ratty had a special event on for the last weekend of the October schools half-term holidays.

RER - Meeting time

05 Jan 2017 2 3 290
River Irt has just arrived with another train as "Typhoon" from the Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Railway waits to run up to the loco shed. The Ratty had a special event on for the school's October half-term holidays (hence the headboards). This was Typhoon's last day at L'aal Ratty, she was on loan as a stand in for River Esk during 2016, whilst the later was repaired after the arson attack which destroyed the Ratty's locomotive workshop. Hopefully, Esk will be back during 2017 (some of the damage was far more extensive than at first thought).
