You have to be of a "certain age" to remember the books by Elizabeth Beresford which led to a children's programme about a group of small, furry animals that lived in a burrow under Wimbledon Common and recycled rubbish into useful things. [for the 1970s that was a very advanced environmentally friendly idea]. The TV adaptation had a theme song which included the line "Underground, Overground, Wombling free" .
