Normally, anything left on top of Maud's cage gets knocked onto the floor, so to find that she'd spent some time pulling this plastic carrier bag inside was a distinct change. A little longer and she might have got it all inside !

Lifting the convict van from the turntable pit, onto the low-loader that will take it to Haltwhistle for restoration. Note the cross-bracing, necessary to hold the lower sections squared and together as the cill and floor are missing.

The arrival of the low-loader bringing the Peterhead Quarry Railway Convict Van back to Maud, after the van spent much of the summer on display at Beamish Museum.

The Convict Van and a ex-RNAD box van sit in the late afternoon sunshine, as the day of the Official Opening draws to a close.
The box van is the type used to move shells around RNAD establishments, and part of the Admiralty Yard at Peterhead was used to mount guns for defence during WW2, overlooking the South Pier.

On the 3rd September 2016, the trustees of Maud Station Railway Museum officially unveiled / opened the restored "Convict Van" from the Peterhead Quarry Railway.
The cutting of the ribbon was performed by the local MP, Dr E Whiteford.
