Another view of the extensive facilities for carriage work at the Bluebell.
Looking around the extensive facilities at the Bluebell Railway, who hosted the convention in 2024. For various reasons, I wasn't able to attend, so was very pleased to receive these few images. All these processes underway look very familiar. There is plenty of room, tools and equipment for their team of staff and volunteers - but the Bluebell does have a large fleet to maintain.

The van in the middle looks rather familiar - as do all the processes underway. There is plenty of room, tools and equipment for their team of staff and volunteers - but the Bluebell does have a large fleet to maintain.

Iseeta "550 PLG" after a restoration project that had lasted five years, and no doubt cost a decent amount of cash ...

Isetta "550 PLG" before her restoration project got underway.
You could say that quite some work will be needed.

Information board displayed with the living van [in lieu of an entry in the rally handbook]
To summarise - the van was built by Brayshaw's of Yeadon - near Leeds - in 1912 for Henry Miller, was passed to the Proctor family in the 1920s.
The Robson family undertook a four year restoration project during 1989 to 1993 {?}
The results of their work are stunning - and I'm writing as a person heavily involved in restoration of timber heritage vehicles.

Anthony C speechifying ref Horden's restoration. I didn't know that he was also very interested in the heritage of industrial steam railways in addition to his day job with the big boy's toys.

The completed restoration (some years later, running in one the vintage sets).
I had worked on several aspects of this project - mainly one weekend a month, as part of a working party. During that time I became proficient with the use of some machine and hand tools, as well as finishing techniques. Apart from sourcing the pitch pine for the underframe, I helped with machining timber for most of the doors and some of the framework, as well as cutting the cladding planks to length. Finally, I took part in the various stages of painting ... About the only area I wasn't heavily involved with was the running and brake gear.

A local artist did this painting of "William Riley" under restoration.
The trust had some cards printed using this illustration for fundraising towards the restoration.
