One of the flocks of waders on the beach at "The Bents" - every time a wave approached, they all ran towards the high water mark ... The shadows and reflections make it less than easy to see how many birds are paddling in the shallow water.

A fairly decent high tide, and an on-shore breeze are producing some surf. The resulting broken waves are giving off quite a bit of spray this afternoon. Looking from "The Bents", past Seaburn and on towards Roker Pier, in Sunderland. On what's left of the sandy beach are several large flocks of sea-birds and waders. Including Oystercatchers ...
