This device is intended as part of a water cleanliness system. I presume that it is an oil trap ? as it seems to working as a surface skimming system. Most of the marina users & staff do try and keep the water clear of litter, but when it is windy that can be a difficult battle to win - not helped by gulls emptying waste bins in search of waste food.

This one has been drying his wings, after some fishing dives in the marina. (grainy due to zoom factor)

Handfeeding "our" pair of swans - they shared one slice of fresh bread. We usually have more appropriate things for them. It really was almost dark and they were relaxed without the rest of the Marina herd competing.

Was it something he said ? "I vant to be alone" One of the red shank flock has moved to the next pontoon finger. The trademark red/orange legs are very clear, the matching base to the long beak was not quite so noticeable. They are in the marina rather than on the beach as there isn't any, it is a very high tide at the moment.

Tied up to the pontoon at Newcastle Quayside. The crew is re-assembling after their lunch and personal needs break, and will be on their way towards the mouth of the River Tyne in a few minutes. The tide / river flow is very strong today.

Ben de-dog sitting at the end of the pontoon. Although he walked along there, he really wasn't too happy as he's not used to things that move while floating.
