Stepped back a little way to show the trunk of this Ginkgo tree. Noted that the bark on the lower part of this tree trunk has been abraded - by debris in floodwater from the adjacent river, and my previous image shows the impacted gravel ...

Tree [Ginkgo Biloba] on the bank of the River Severn. The gravel visible in the grooved / cracked bark was pounded there by floodwater.
