Mainly common beech leaves by the side of the path alongside the River Allen, they were soaking wet as it had been raining earlier. There was a lot of beech mast nearby.

This historic suspension footbridge (Plankey Mill) has been badly damaged by debris carried down the River Allen - mainly trees, which have now been cut away. There is still a lot of extra water - and suspended silt - in the channel, even for late October. The National Trust are fundraising for repairs; in the meantime the bridge is closed for safety reasons - the support chains are partly pulled out and it is missing quite a lot of the decking and "handrails" .
