The largest single "Stationary Engine" was this lorry-mounted Robey. from the info card ... built 1939, in Lincoln. Model HS0, 40hp, single cylinder diesel engine. bought for the Exbury Estate of Lionel de Rothschild.

After "Aries" had been parked on the far end of the back row, members of the public were allowed into the arena - very sociable of the organisers - I took advantage of the opportunity to take a few more images. This one features the Robey "Tandem" roller.

Three "Stationary Engines" - from this side ... a) Robey - single cylinder Uniflow No. 40622 . Used at Cambridge University for power testing, which is why there are so many ropes on the flywheel. b) Belliss & Morcom [blue] [information with separate images] c) Marshall - EngineNo. 52483 - 16hp, built 1909. Used to drive overhead shafts to power fruit-crushers at Tiptree Jam Factory. The large flywheel serves to even out the power supplied through the shafts and belts. Bought for £450 in 1972 via a magazine advert !
