STR[24] - "Old Rusty"

30 Oct 2024 1 53
Under the new all-over roof at Alston. No.18 aka "Old Rusty" has been sat in Platform 2 as part of running around the passenger train in Platform 1, it will haul the next train to & from Slaggyford in a few minutes. It's normally the station shunter, but due to a problem it is deputising for the rostered steam loco. [Focus could be better, apologies, I think the camera's setting wasn't correct]

dht[23] - No.12 [open toastrack]

Okell's is the local brewery - on No.18, the double-decker in the background. No.12 [built 1888] is the open toastrack in the foreground, and is, technically, part of the "service fleet" - although some work seems to be in progress. Note the ornamental paraffin lamps, nicely made modern replicas - the tinwork in particular is worthy of comment. Do "mobile" benches count ? [82 on 6Jan2025]

Well fenced platforms at Douglas Railway Station. No.18 "Alisa" in the headshunt. [built 1994 by Hunslets, for the Jubilee Line, London Underground & Channel Tunnel. It was sold to, and used in 2000/2002, by the contractors who re-laid approximately 2/3 of the Port Erin line in conjunction with the IRIS project. It was then bought as a shunter by the steam railway]. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isle_of_Man_Railway_locomotives#No._18_Ailsa
