This plaque, on the Weardale Museum building - commemorates the Wear Valley Extension Railway [1895] and mentions the line from Stanhope to Wearhead, which closed in 1963.
The present day Weardale Railway is an 18 mile heritage line running from a connection with the main rail network at Bishop Auckland to Eastgate in Weardale, County Durham, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Currently a 16 mile section of line between Bishop Auckland and Stanhope has been restored for passenger and freight use.
[I believe that the section up to Eastgate - the now demolished cement works - still has track in situ and the WR would like to reopen / relay the full route]

The restored Union Chain Bridge has been awarded a number of accolades.
Apart from the Scottish Cat A and English Grade I listings ...
This plaque, dedicated in July 2020, acknowledges the bridge as an International Historic Civil Engineering Landmark.
And in July 2023, The American Society of Civil Engineers gave their own award, listing the bridge as an Historic Civil Engineering Landmark.
E2A --- 18 July 2024 --- New Civil Engineer Bridge Awards, the Union Bridge won the Historic Bridges Project part of the Bridge Awards Section for the Spencer Group, against some very strong competition.

The bench has recently been re-coated with something dark coloured like a matt stain/varnish ...
The floral displays and other features of the various sections of the sunken garden are well worth visiting, especially in view of the damage as reported in the two links below.
E2A - there has been an extensive and quite expensive clean up in the aftermath of Storm Barra [early Dec 2021] when the protective walls were damaged and the sunken gardens flooded by seawater.

Fiddler's Green or the Fisherman's Memorial.
Dedication plaque, reads :
"Erected by Public Subscription.
To the Memory of those Fishermen
who lost their lives at sea."
"Until you have the courage to lose sight of the shore,
you will not know the terror of being forever lost at sea" Charles Cook
---
A "corten steel" statue, sculpted [welded] by Ray Lonsdale and unveiled in 2017. It was inspired by a photograph taken in 1961 and entitled "The Salt" and forms a memorial to Fishermen from North Shields, mainly those lost at sea, but also those who go to sea no more.

Passenger-carrying certificates and dedication plaques. Annoyed that the lower one is illegible because it is an inscribed mirror.

There was a really yappy something or other in there, but it eventually went to sleep]

Very disappointed to find that some low-life toe-rag thief has removed the remembrance plaque from this stone. It listed the causalities lost from RAF Milfield during WW2.
I know from another image that the plaque was stainless steel, not bronze, so the scrap value would have been fairly limited.
I added a couple of white stones to the little "memorial" pile by the wreaths.
