Shannon class lifeboats are propelled with water jets. View of the "buckets" - for want of a better term - on the stern of Pwllheli's boat. This system makes for a very manoeuvrable lifeboat, and one with excellent brakes.

Not my image ... . Drone's eye view of the harbour mouth at Pwllheli. With a little imagination, you can see a dolphin's head and eye. . Sent to me by an old friend, as I used to know this area very well, but I have never seen it from this angle !
