Releasing the eels, crabs etc that we rescued earlier as the hull of "Twister" was being cleaned of tubeworm. A couple of the eels were a little reluctant to leave !

When the yard lads started to scrap the tube worm from the hull of "Twister" it soon very clear that other, more interesting wildlife was present. We obtained this container and collected up various eels, crabs and winkles of varying sizes. The largest eel was probably nine inches in length and very slippery, most were much smaller and easier to catch. European eels, in the wild, are regarded as "Critically Endangered" so these were returned to nearby fresh water (in the marina). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_eel

A cormorant was wrestling with an eel, but a child (running down the slipway, shouting and screaming) caused it to crash drive into the water, but still holding lunch. I was told later - by one of the trip boat operators - that the eels were often caught by the cormorants, but it was unusual to be able to capture one in the act.
