This "Gresley Teak" looks to have had the roof recently repainted - that's very white for a carriage on a steam railway !

Back at Grosmont and the train engine is heading off to the shed for disposal [ie to be put to bed for the night.] Looking at the smokebox of BR Standard 4 Tank, No. 80136 ... and the tanks have the "Cycling Lion" emblem, although this was only used for a short time, I much prefer it to the later, more common one that goes by "Ferret & Dartboard".

The varnished teak exterior of carriage 23956. Gresley designed, Open Third, built in 1936.

nym[22] - window

An interior view in 23956, showing a damp patch on the window ledge / reveals. There is a leak coming to the surface here, right in the corner. I first noticed it with the coach in motion and very heavy rain falling, on the return from Pickering.
