bcv[22] - stationary engines [2 of 2]

Just part of the displayed Stationary Engines. I was impressed by the layout, having the exhibitor's 'camping' behind their engines, usually meant that there was somebody near to the engine. A number of people were very happy to talk about their display. {Even if the bitingly cold wind had reduced the visitors to a trickle}.

Three "Stationary Engines" - from this side ... a) Robey - single cylinder Uniflow No. 40622 . Used at Cambridge University for power testing, which is why there are so many ropes on the flywheel. b) Belliss & Morcom [blue] [information with separate images] c) Marshall - EngineNo. 52483 - 16hp, built 1909. Used to drive overhead shafts to power fruit-crushers at Tiptree Jam Factory. The large flywheel serves to even out the power supplied through the shafts and belts. Bought for £450 in 1972 via a magazine advert !
