South Breakwater Titan crane, probably turned to minimise wind forces. There is a stack of concrete construction blocks awaiting transfer to the North Breakwater. Waves are breaking over the full height of the south breakwater, the lighthouse at the pier end can be made out. In the distance, the Titan crane on the North Breakwater, which is still under construction, can be seen, also turned to cope with the wind and waves that are breaking over the pier. The Titan block-setting crane on the North Breakwater at Peterhead, which was constructed between 1912 and 1956. Following the experiences on the South Breakwater, this crane was built with equal height legs from the start. The builder was probably Stothert & Pitt of Bath, but the oval maker's plate is illegible.

1950s image of the Titan crane on the North Breakwater, delivering blocks for the divers to deal with. The group of divers are in light coloured clothes. it looks like at least one block is already underwater, another is on the crane whilst the last waits on the waggon, there are three waggons in the short train, propelled by the loco "Prince of Wales".
