Many years ago I was given a number of "holey" rocks - this is one of the larger ones. Looks like a limestone that has been home to some marine worms that drill tunnels to live in, but I've no idea where it was found (or even if the person who gave it to me had collected it in the first place). A couple of the others would have made good loom or spinning weights.

Another area of rotten roof - in compartment 4, affecting both the narrow and the standard width roof planks.

Two problem found in compartment three. Quite a large rotten area in the narrow planks, in the more curved part of the roof profile. Again, timber treatment has already been applied to the affected area. Secondly, the gap in the roof stick splice means the sections will need bolting firmly together. The lighter coloured roof planks indicate a replacements made some years ago.

Cmpt 1. After removing the ceiling panels, some problems were found. Images showing rotten ends of roof planks, and the roof stick. The largest hole is full depth, the black colour is the underside of the external roof covering. This is additional to the re-compartmentalisation taking place.
