bmc[23] - instructions ...

13 Aug 2023 1 104
Instructions to passengers in the [unlikely] event of an emergency situation. . Having worn a "proper" lifejacket a few times, I'm not sure that I like the design of those ! It is intended to protect your neck if you have to jump ...

bmc[23] - deck numbers

vertical deck plan ... showing the stairwells between the vehicle decks and the passenger spaces.

bmc[23] - plaques

13 Aug 2023 98
Passenger-carrying certificates and dedication plaques. Annoyed that the lower one is illegible because it is an inscribed mirror. [On the bulkhead, just as you go into the cafeteria having gone past the doggy lounge. There was a really yappy something or other in there, but it eventually went to sleep]

bmc[23] - Ben turning

13 Aug 2023 2 1 103
Ben-my-Chree doing her pirouette in the harbour at Douglas, after which she'll back onto the linkspan on the Edward VIII pier, nearer to the camera. Mannan often uses the linkspan on the Victoria Pier - the outside [north face] is currently occupied by "Corinthian".

Douglas Head, with lighthouse [see note for location]. Seen from the approaching Ben-my-chree ... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Douglas_Head

IoM[1]/bmc - view of the Island

31 May 2021 78
View from the observation deck [just above & behind the bridge] as Ben-my-Chree approaches Douglas Bay, Isle of Man. I think the mainly white buildings framed by the aerial array are on Onchan Head, with Douglas further to the left.

IoM[1] - logo

Not the best close-up of the IoMSPco logo, featuring the Manx Triskelion

IoM[1]/bmc - Docked in Douglas

31 May 2021 77
Still waiting for the call for foot passengers to disembark. The car & waggon drivers are already assembling on the vehicle decks. {most of the HGV trailers are unloaded by "tugs" driven at quite a speed by their operators, parked up to await collection by the on-island tractor units}

IoM[1]/bmc - lifeboat

31 May 2021 86
Plenty of lifeboats and liferafts - in the "cannisters" ... and no doubt lifejackets as well. Just had a look at the various signs and heard the safety announcement.

IoM[1]/bmc - stairs etc

31 May 2021 78
There are stairs and passageways all over this ferry ...

bmc / IoMT - stereo ferry

21 Jun 2021 93
A small image of the Isle of Man Steam Packet's two ferries. The nearer one is the MS "Ben-my-Chree" manx for "Woman of my Heart" [in service - 1998] and the one further away is the HSC "Manannan" in Douglas Harbour. . {from the water movements around her bow, Ben-my-Chree, is either arriving or just leaving - Not my Image : Fair Use & public information}

IoM[1]/bmc - warning

31 May 2021 129
The door is exceptionally heavy and the winds do their best to keep it shut. However, if the weather is good, the view from the top deck is worth the visit.

IoM[1]/bmc - about to unmoor

The Ben-my-Chree is now ready to depart from Heysham ...

TiG - Ben-my-Chree

21 Dec 2018 290
Isle of Man Steam Packet Company's ferry "Ben-my-Chree" approaching Douglas. The sea is less than smooth. Her name is Manx for Woman of my Heart, built in 1997/8 in Holland. It is intended that she will become the third / reserve vessel in the fleet sometime around 2019-21. wiki - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MS_Ben-my-Chree
