The train from Spain, having been test run over the R&ER, has been loaded for the trip back to the off-site workshops of Old Hall Engineering, Bouth (South Lakeland) where the overhaul has been taking place. Subsequently, a poll amongst the RERPS members was held to select both a name and the livery.

Erecting one side of the Big Saloon, carefully avoiding the grey painted ironwork holding up the roof. The other side is already in place, including the cant rail. The unpainted section in the far corner is original material.

RER - Shelagh

Shelagh of Eskdale. Diesel-Hydraulic completed in 1969 by Severn-Lamb after being started bt Heathcoates of Clwator Moor in 1956. She went to Gateshead Garden Festival in 1989/1990 amongst a number of working visits to other locations. Various stages in her original construction and subsequent rebuilds mean she is now a Ford engined diesel-mechanical 4-6-4, still in the two tone green livery dating from 1978.
