This is the prototype Arun class fast all-weather lifeboat (ON 1018). The deckline doesn't have the amidships dip towards the water that was used in the service fleet. These 'boats were in service with the RNLI from 1971 to 2008, before being sold out of service. Some were bought by other overseas rescue services, such as those in Iceland and China. There were 46 boats built for the RNLI, up to 1990, and one is preserved in the national Collection at Chatham. (The "Edward Bridges" which was stationed at Torbay between 1975 and 1994) more info here :- en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arun-class_lifeboat
