Looking at the underside of Bluebird. The repaired timber we worked on is inserted at the edge between the bottom and the sides.

The holes created by removing the used fixings have now been filled with timber plugs. The reason for the two sizes is that the smaller holes were to remove the minimum amount of wood including the used fixings, the larger holes were to neaten up after some fixing were removed by another method.

Bluebird has four timber strips, two run along the top edge, the other two at the bottom. These are the means of jointing the side and bottom of the hull. Bluebird is in a rolling jig, with her starboard side uppermost and the bottom of the boat facing the camera.
