whnt - low springs {23rd July 2024}

28 Jul 2024 48
A very, very low tide [Springs] - hills in the distance are actually Scotland. Somewhat muddy in some places and sharp gravel in others ! as all the sand's up by the piers behind me. sad about the washed up jellyfish and the rubbish [old tyres etc]

BtC - almost there

Bella has almost reached the water ... on this occasion, she didn't paddle, just her toes got wet as she tasted the sea - yuck ! being the reaction.

hst - distant pier

30 Jun 2023 1 97
Looking westwards along the Prom to the distant pier, over the beach "gravel & shells" and a lonely picnic table, there's a few more behind me, and a large car park to the right. It's at the end of a sunny & hot Sunday afternoon, and people are finally coming off the beach and heading home - or for food and a drink. There was a complementary supply of bottled water in the car park, which seemed to have been both a good idea and very popular - hopefully stopped some heat related health incidents..

shs - harbour extension

21 Jun 2021 81
The less protected "extension" to Seahouses harbour "dries out" at low tide.

shs - empty beach

fine, clean sand ... and an empty beach

shs - a pause ...

A somewhat soggy Ben hoping that I will lob his stick again. I will, Ben, I will, you just need a breather while I take this picture ...

shs - Beach at Seahouses

The beach, looking towards the northern edge of Seahouses, plenty of peaople but well socially distanced.

shs - shaking off some seawater

21 Jun 2021 160
After several swims, chasing the big stick, Ben has decided a good shake is in order. My shot missed the rainbow he produced.

shs - sneaky stick

Very pleased with himself, but that stick is about to escape !

shs - view from the beach

Looking across rocks [scars] on the beach out to Inner Farne - the lighthouse is quite clear, as are some of the other islands in the group.

gbw - LLyn Celyn

30 May 2021 113
Low "tide" at Llyn Celyn, as can be seen by the exposed surface of the far bank. The previous few months had been very dry, with almost no rain.

whnt - low tide ; 28th September 2019 (16:54)

10 Nov 2020 9 8 151
A very wide expanse of sand (& some mud) in the outer harbour at Whitehaven. Low tide just about as low as it gets on the Autumn "spring tides" ... [tide table ...] - if you look very carefully at the far side of the harbour, you can just see the line of the deep water channel leading to the sea lock. The clouds and hills in the distance are in Scotland, the far shore of the Solway Firth.

TiG - water - shipshape & Bristol Fashion.

A demonstration of how not to enter the R.Avon from the Cumberland Basin / Floating Harbour. Difficult to tell, but I think there is a steam tug on the far side of the square-rigged vessel. No doubt they are waiting for the incoming tide to bring enough water depth to sort out the situation, as the ship's bows look firmly embedded in the mud, exposed at low tide. Not my image : Fair Use - discussing ships aground in awkward places.

whn - wide open view

02 Feb 2016 15 12 1228
The expanse of sand in the outer harbour just after low water point of the spring tides. (1045 GMT on 2016 Jan 15) the tide is basically at slack water and will be coming back in quite soon.

BDD - come and play

16 Feb 2017 8 5 505
Ben is waiting for someone to play with him. Standing on the outer harbour beach with an ebbing tide and very bright winter sunshine, despite which, it is very cold !

gbw - Crosscanonby

14 Dec 2016 201
Beach at Crosscanonby. There is a Roman fortlet up on top of the hill just behind here, also some salt pans a little way to the right at the base of that same hill. A lot of those red pebbles are actually domestic red house-bricks, or fragments of such items.
