Tree sparrows : the youngster is flapping wings to encourage the adult to provide {more} food. No sound was recorded, but I can imagine the strong & loud "soliciting food" call the young one will be making - when I hand-reared a blackbird I got to hear that call quite a lot for a few weeks.

Stumpy's back again

Somewhat out of focus and zoomed in-camera snap of "our" visiting red squirrel. {15:21 on 29th March 2022} I think s/he is eating the kernel from hazel nuts ...

I think our visiting red squirrel is just finishing off the latest hazel nut kernel, or maybe it was a ground nut [peanut].

This cob will take from your hand, whilst swearing at you - quite the greedy guts despite an understandable caution around humans ... He's quite dominant, but very loving to his pen. We frequently see him and his lady around our part of the marina. They largely avoid the influx of visiting swans, preferring to paddle around in the quiet areas, eating a largely natural diet, only occasionally supplemented by scrounging - we give them grain rather than white bread, although they do get some crusts. I might try layer's pellets ...

Mealworms for dinner......... I've room for a few extra, if you have any more ? and please don't forget to leave me a few for later.......

Although more than capable of self-feeding, offering extras was much appreciated ....... on one mealworm delivery, over 25 medium worms disappeared in short order, before the crop was full enough.
