A couple of the "trip boats" that are available to take you around the docks in Gloucester and along the Sharpness Canal. The ship nearest the camera also took part in "Operation Dynamo" and the collection of masts above her bows are from several vessels moored up at T. Nielsons, a local boatbuilding yard.

Lucy Lavers (ON 832 - a single screw Liverpool) was the No2 boat at Aldeburgh between 1940 and 1959. Her first "shout" was actually to take part in "Operation Dynamo" - one of 19 lifeboats to do so - the evacuation from Dunkirk over nine days from 27th May 1940 of the BEF. Her RNLI service record was 7 lives saved over 30 launches at Aldeburgh, then from 1959 to 1968 she was in the relief fleet with another 52 launches, including at Wells and Sheringham. After various adventures and a near miss with becoming a bonfire, she was rescued, first by the Dunkirk Little Ships Association (restoration trust) and then, in 2010, by Rescue Wooden Boats. These events lead onto her restoration, and now she is used for pre-booked sea trips at Wells-next-the-sea.
