Bernese Mountain Dogs and their gazebo attracted quite some interest.
This young one has just had a try out in the harness.

A small selection of dog carts.
The Bernese Mountain Dog will, quite happily, pull one of these dog carts. Actually, they can pull much more weight than is in these examples.
I missed the BMDs displaying their prowess in the show ring.

Seen later in the day beginning to road home, and later we passed them on the hilly B1257.

1921 built Petter M [water-cooled generator set]
The switchgear on the right made me smile as it could be seen as an example of pareidolia.
in the background is {5-80}
Austin K2, built 1948.
Reg No. XSK 630
Fitted with a Jennings Horse Box [for the Somerset Fox Hounds] from new.
NB - There's a better view of the horse-box in dps[22].

dps[23] - parade of minis
08 Jul 2023 |
|
The parade of miniature and model engines was due at 12:15, but things were actually running ahead.
Rally handbook lists 34 entries in this class, and most of them are in the main ring. The commentator and many of the exhibitors were in fine form, with some very amusing exchanges.
dps[23] - two unlisted veterans

These two veteran vehicles were tucked up by the "main stage" ... which suggests that they are also residents at the "Scarborough Fair Collection"
left - pre WW1 IHC Autowagon GR 45 [American] - more of a "pick-up" than a car.
right - Albion A16 charabanc BF 7455 built 1912 [or 1920 ?] in Scotstoun.
Pretty sure I've seen this wee beastie at Beamish Museum's Great North Steam Fair a few years ago.

Two for the price of one ...
The steam gallopers were doing a roaring trade and my shot has been photobombed by the miniature showman's and towed load. Look even more closely, and you'll see that there are two minis ...

dps[23] - LandRover line-up
08 Jul 2023 |

Line-up of approximately half of the LandRovers listed in the rally handbook, some in other sections, just to confuse the observer.
That list extends from a 1948 ex-Derbyshire Fire Service plus pump trailer
up to a 1977 SWB that is reputed to have served with the Royal Navy.
It includes a group of 1967 to 1972 LandRover 109" "Carawagon" - converted to include cooking & washing facilities and used for expeditions ...

this is not what's listed in handbook as 6-028
EKC 777 looks like a MG SA from the late 1930s.
So, I looked in last year's handbook - this MG SA is from 1938 and appears to be owned by the same people who entered a 1962 Riley 1.5 this year.

dps[23] - Living Vans
08 Jul 2023 |
|
Living vans - both the utilitarian type that were towed about by road or farming contractors, and the much more decorated varieties that were used by Showmen for accompanying travelling fairgrounds.
Apart from the ones displayed here, there were several others, mostly with full-size steam engines / rollers. Some are restorations and others are replicas, with modern interiors.
