This is the point at which the Haltwhistle Burn kinks sharply to the left [downstream]. There is one of the several steps in the bed here, whether that is because of a build up of larger pebbles, or some other reason, I don't know. It is an area under active bank erosion - watch where you walk on the turf - a lot of the edge is un-supported, and it's quite a drop into the water. {there should be an in spate image somewhere !}
