One of two images showing a large but derelict building close to Barron House [farm] near Gilsland, Cumbria. Another photographer thinks these are abandoned / old mine buildings. However, although there are coal measures here, I'm not totally convinced. Primarily because there are no visible waste tips, even from sinking an adit {horizontal shaft}. However, it is located where a small stream opens out onto the flat area in the foreground. I would like, sometime, to take a closer look ! [taken from a passing train]
