With a little imagination, this field of pillow lava [or more accurately "pahoehoe" - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lava#P%C4%81hoehoe ] could be interpreted as bodies surrounding the gateway to hell ... actually, that's an opening in a lava tube.

Eruption plume from Tonga's Hunga-Tonga Hunga-Ha'apai volcano on 15th January 2022. This, and an accompanying tsunami was the culmination of an eruption that started around the 20th December 2021. The tip of the plume was estimated to have reached 55km in altitude and ash was widely distributed over the southern Pacific Ocean. NASA estimated the blast as about 10 Megatons of TNT ...

small image of Eyjafjallajokull [Iceland] in eruption, with the lack of visible ash in the column, I suspect this was from the early part of the eruption - perhaps in March 2020.

Sentinel's Infra-red view [false colour image] of Nar and the lava flows in Geldingadalir. Meradalir and Natthagi on Saturday 26th June 2021. The brighter the colour the warmer the area (with white the hottest, then yellow and red, with black the coolest - background in grey). The two round dots roughly to the east of Nar (the main vent) are small lava lakes.

Aerial view of "Nar" and the erupted lava fields surrounding the vents & fissures that started erupting on 19th march 2021. (FLO is to the left and BOB to the right, Meradalir is the valley on the far side of "Nar", much of the recent lava has ended up in Natthagi (off screen to the right).

Webcam still screengrab from 1st June 2021 at 1240, showing the older, blocky aa lava (black) against the newer, still grey shaded, ropey pahoehoe flows.
e2a - in the almost four weeks since this image was captured, Nar has continued to pour lava into Meradalir - estimated to be 1/3 to 1/2 of the total lava output - this further lava has flowed into the cross valley visible to the left. A marker for the depth is the break of slope just above the change in lava colour at the entrance to the cross valley. As of 26th June, that break of slope is starting to be submerged.

Webcam still screengrab [looking SSW at 02:20 on 1st June 2021] showing surface and tunneled lava flows arriving in Meradalir and extending the eastwards spread. The newest flows are the lighest grey, and have largely covered previous outpourings, including the much smaller valley bottom fields that were mostly from the FLO system vents.

Lava from volcano vents "BoB" are continuing to flow into Geldingadalir. The lava from the new vents to the north-east, especially that from No.2 ie "FLO" , are descending into Meradalir.

The eastern berm had been overtopped by lava, which is now flowing into Natthagi. The purple colour shows the extent of the lava as at approx 1630 on 22nd May 2021 [The actual route has two kinks in it that are not shown correctly on the map]. The western - higher and thicker - berm has not been breached. Lava continues to flow into Geldingadalir and Meradalir (as of 2nd June 2021) as well as into Natthagi.

The red areas show the zones where the vegetation (moss, lichens, some grass etc) has been burnt. The fires were started by vent ejecta [lava bombs and the like] or by direct exposure to lava flows.
Situation as at 28th May 2021 (approx).

Full sunny daylight - the lava from "Nar" is flowing downhill into Meradalir (off to the right). The channel contains a sizeable chunk of the splatter cone the eruption is constructing around Nar's vent, but there are frequent partial collapses.

Looking at "Nar" in actively fountaining lava, with some ejecta landing outside the cone.
Note, the central "lump" in the lava channel, this is a section of Nar's cone which partially collapsed earlier. If it "grounds" and blocks the channel - currently lava is flowing down into Meradalir - then some lava will be diverted into the area [valley with no name] in front of & to the left of this webcam
