SBB[24]/coast{8/8} - Ystwth entrance [HFF]

The dog's leg entrance to Aberystwyth Harbour - partly the estuary of the Afon Ystwyth, but has been much modified by the piers and breakwaters. In the 1990s a small [160 berth] marina has been developed here, behind and to the left. The moorings are a mixture of pontoon and drying / mud berths with a few against wharfs.

Looking along the eponymous Wharf at Tywyn, which used to have an "exchange siding". The standard gauge "Canbrian Coast Line" is stretching away southwards, with their Station being located a short distance behind the camera. Not my Image : Fair use & educational purposes.

Stencilled fleet number. Possibly the BHR rather than the LMSR number - will check. . e2a = Port of Bristol Authority numbered their waggons with year and accession references. So, this is the 45th waggon obtained in 1966.

Didn't have a tyre wear gauge, but this isn't going anywhere soon.

Drawgear pivot - to the "hook" behind the camera with the central "compensation "springs and to the drawhook at the far end [these take up some of the snatches when setting the train in motion and transfer the pull to the next vehicle]

Rusty, but basically sound structure - no holes that I can see from here ...

Overall, the woodwork is all scrap. But the metal chassis will clean up nicely for a display vehicle that will not be a runner.

Fairly decent condition disc wheels, the curved strips to the right are meant to prevent the drop-down side door from opening too far.

Some rotten side planks, so that's about 2" thick maybe 2.5" in other places, which fits with some info I have.

Palvan in need of some tlc, the graffiti tags are not in the least artistic and only add to the air of neglect and near dereliction.
