NER7cmpt - third class ceiling infill

05 Jan 2017 413
In some compartments, there was insufficient original material for the ceiling infill planks, so a suitable quality marine plywood has been substituted. This has the advantage of presenting a smoother surface for attaching the ceiling layer, which will conceal the iron support hoops (roof sticks).

NER7cmpt - first infill (ceiling)

05 Jan 2017 403
The first layer of the ceiling infill (the two grey painted sections) to level up with the two iron hoops (metal roof sticks) in one of the first class compartments. The unpainted middle area planks are the roof. The new coving between the roof and the walls can be seen, inset into it are two brass plates. These are dished to allow passengers to grip the emergency communication chains.
