The door lock reads "Matthews Patent"
The "Pairs" were two of the original 1873 4-wheel carriages mounted on steel underframes, running on bogies. F68 was formed from A9 and C13, as their underframe dates from 1909, it is likely that this was the first "pairing". It was withdrawn in the 1970s and then sold to the Phyllis Rampton Trust. After restoration, and being put onto 2ft gauge bogies it is now on display at Aberystwyth.
{make your mind up ! the screw slots should match, but I would prefer these to be both vertical, as this is an area that can get wet ...}

As the sign says, this is Anchor Lock at Gargrave on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal.
I think the channel on the far side of this sign is actually for water overflow - the actual lock is behind the camera.
