From another [fairly] reliable source, which confirms that this is the Ratgoed Tramway horse and a rake of waggons loaded with finished slabs at the Aberllefenni Slate Works [dated April 1948]. Note the beams and tensioned wires to hold the slabs on the waggon framework. {Scanned image from book / periodical} . Not my Image : fair use & public information

mint with the hole patrol ! Ian is trying to persuade the driver / groom to hand over a mint ... Ian [a Clydesdale gelding] is providing the one horsepower for enclosed saloon tram No.1. In the background are open toastrack No.42 and "Royal Tram" No.44 - the safety fence on the right is to segregate the MER [the low road] tramway terminus from the horse tram area.

The excavated remains, laid flat - it appears that most of the decoration had been removed ... and above, a modern replica to show what it probably looked like. note : A few weeks later, I discovered that in Corbridge (only a few miles away) the museum contains an example of the brass eye cover !

This should have been a movie....the horse has just picked the gun out of the holster! as part of a display. There is a story about the saddle.
