The two groups of marching men are re-enactors of the American independence / civil wars. They have just been involved in [noisy] demonstration of a woodland skirmish / ambush with each other.

Display - with talks - of Home Guard weapons [all de-activated or replica]. Note the bell tents and army blankets. The nearest three weapons are all "Sten" guns, then a selection of Webley revolvers [plus an interloping Smith & Wesson .38], Thompson sub-machine guns and finally some rifles. Standing behind are their storage boxes. Note the case with a wide "red stripe" if I recall correctly that denotes the weapon is a non-standard calibre for Britain, requiring specific ammunition.
