Finally, we have the first few of our "local" lambs in the nearby fields. That is a pair of fraternal twins soaking up the sunshine. Just as I clicked the shutter "mom" told them it was lunchtime, so they both trotted over for some "milk on tap" ... very cute !

Hadn't seen any lambs locally [by the third week in February] so we went looking and eventually found these little ones over by Penrith. To be quite honest, open-field lambing seems to have been very late in the North of England this year, and in parts of Wales as well. Maybe the grotty weather this time last year resulted in a late "tupping" season for this year [Tupping is putting the rams in with the ewes].

There's at least a dozen horses gently grazing in this field, next to the car park at the Home of Rest for Old Horses, Douglas. A good proportion are ex-trammers, and certainly not shy !
