One of Bella's regular walks "at home" is down to where the Haltwhistle Burn joins the River South Tyne. It's changed a bit recently, but still has some pools and a stony beach backed up by scrubby bushes. , After the "paddle in the burn" Bella had to find some soft, sandy silt to dig in ! [dropped off by the Tyne after some recent spate conditions]

This was the first time that we know of when Bella had played with her own ball on the beach. I took a series of images showing her exploration of playtime, for some of them I then cropped "in camera" to put her "front & centre" - there are now 11 images in this sequence. "I'll just have a quick dig, I know how that works, while I think about that rollabout thing"

Bella tazzes at great speed about this beach [outer harbour, Whitehaven] occasionally stopping for a quick dig. This time, she went back to one hole she had started earlier, and really went for it. In just over three minutes she had made enough room to lie down.

The walking routes over the fell or in the garden didn't have any opportunities for digging, so I've improvised a sand-pit for Bella. Which was greatly appreciated if the tail waving is anything to go by !

As a short break between "tazzing" around the beach, Bella did some quite energetic digging {1 of 2} and this hole was close enough for me to catch the action ...
