svr[22] - safe route

The official, safe walking route from Highley Station across to the Engine House.
Just past the gates, you are going to cross over the tracks giving rail access. Just one of the reasons for strong fences and gates, at least the surface of the path is even.

Opened in 2008 and houses various locomotives that are "out-of-ticket" [some are awaiting maintenance to return them to operating service], plus various items of rolling stock and a small artefacts musuem.
A number of visiting engines have appeared, and gala events are held here.
There are other facilities including a cafe with a splendid view over the line from the nearby station.

The damage to the Highley Up starter signal when it was washed away during a landslip caused by a thunderstorm in early June 2007 - it took some months to repair all the damage to the railway.

Looking out from the upper floor balcony [outside the cafe] at the "Engine House" to work out what's happening down at Highley Station - I had heard some whistling ...
Looks like another Kidderminster bound train is about to leave Highley [due away at 1507].

The maroon livery on Class 31 No 31466 caught my eye as we came in Highley.

Grounded body of this horsebox at Highley is in use largely as an information point, contains racks with tourist leaflets and a few artefacts.
The two benches are of similar designs, one with the GWR monogram and the other with the much later "shirt-button" device.
