This appears to be counter-inflationary, but the fuel prices in July 2022 were so very high as a result of ru55ia invading Ukraine and the sanctions consequently applied to ru55ia's oil & gas sales. It took some time for production elsewhere in OPEC to "pick up the slack" plus the artificial scarcity resulted in some "price-gouging" at pumps on the forecourts. Finally, some relief from the excessive fuel prices in the UK, largely driven by supermarket forecourts.
