Looking across to the disused Lambley Viaduct. . Sadly, I suspect it will be some years before the narrow-gauge [2ft] South Tynedale Railway re-opens this part of the Alston Branch.

12 Jul 2021 76
I know it's quite a few years since I last visited, but the amount of tree growth did surprise me a little. The little side valley has almost disappeared.

12 Jul 2021 80
On the way back down to Aberystwyth, I took another view towards Cwm Rheidol. The power station is almost hidden by trees from this vantage point.

27 Jul 2023 2 1 103

VoR[19] - the deer or stag {3 of 3}

12 Jul 2021 132
Zoomed in to get more detail of the deer / stag. This was, I believe, formed as the result of tipping waste from lead mining, which is why the vegetation is very limited in some areas. Several decades ago, the shape was somewhat more clearly defined - and included "legs" , but I can't remember if the "antlers" were visible.

The mountains and lowlands of the western European land mass. There are significant areas that would be flooded by even a modest rise in sea level. . . Not my Image : Fair Use & education.
