New gates and signage, this one asks visitors to remember that although this place is know to be an ANOB [Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty] it and the surrounding farmland still needs looking after - take your rubbish home, watch out you don't disturb wildlife etc. and no fires / BBQs.

Raby Estates have invested in new gates and footpath signs, the blue one suggests that as these fields are used to raise food crops, please to pick up after your dog.

You have to be of a "certain age" to remember the books by Elizabeth Beresford which led to a children's programme about a group of small, furry animals that lived in a burrow under Wimbledon Common and recycled rubbish into useful things. [for the 1970s that was a very advanced environmentally friendly idea]. The TV adaptation had a theme song which included the line "Underground, Overground, Wombling free" . I've seen a huge number of variations in these over the years, although these seem to be american ... one I saw recently was similar to the middle top one, but was "sold into slavery" rather than "sold to the circus" ... maybe I should try and capture images instead of just chuckling to myself. . .
